short update

Yes, I have rheumatoid disease which is why I had a relapse. The drugs they're going to put me on sound pretty scary but i'm trying not to think of it. I have felt like crap since I had to go off of the steroids that I was on for about 3 weeks. The steroids were the final test to make completely sure I have rheumatoid. I don't see getting my jaw broken again right now, I would be too afraid of a relapse to happen again if I would have to go off of the meds when we decide to get pregnant. These drugs are VERY toxic and I can't get pregnant while on them :-(

I had sinus surgery a week ago and got the splints out of my nose today and it's amazing to be able to breathe like this!

I wonder how many people/bloggers that went through surgery at the same time as me still get on their blogs?

I got married to a very amazing man on valentines day :-)))

Happy monday everyone!

  1. Corey,

I have been following your blog since about the time that you discovered you might have RA. It runs in my family, and I have another autoimmune disease which makes me more susceptible to other autoimmune diseases. For the past year to two, I have been having symptoms that might suggest RA but I've not gotten them checked out. Mostly, I don't know if I really want to know. I'm scared because now I've signed up to have jaw surgery (probably not until December) and I've had two teeth extracted in preparation for the surgery. Do you think the surgery triggered your RA or did it make it worse by going through with it?

I'm sorry to hear you are going through this - relapse and RA. It's wonderful that you have a loving husband and congratulations on getting married! On Valentine's Day - very romantic!

By the way, has anyone ever told you that you resemble liv tyler? Definitely a compliment I think she's gorgeous!

    Take care,
    Tara

  2. Corey.

I still check in every month or so! It seems like a lot of people are completely done with the whole process. It makes me feel better not to be the only one still dealing with surgery things, even so long after surgery.
So sorry to hear that you have RA, but I hope that the new drugs work wonders! Congratulations on your marriage!

  3. Tara~ I really think you should get checked, I really do think it got much worse after my surgery. I had had symptoms since around 19 years old but after the surgery, the pain in my jaw joints and the degrading of the bone went downhill VERY fast. diagnosing RA is definitely a time consuming process too- I think I started going to that doctor in october? They don't seem to believe blood tests that come back positive for it since they kept drawing blood for the same thing to "make sure". I guess they just really don't want to put you on the drugs unless they absolutely have to since they are so toxic. I hope it all works out for you :-) keep me up to date and feel free to ask me questions.

Thank you for the compliment! she is my favorite actress, I think she's so pretty! that's a huge compliment for me lol.

Meredith~ thanks so much, it does seem like most people are done with the process and have been able to move on with their lives. I hope the whole thing is over for you soon as well :)
